Wax & Stacks Returns!
The Library for the Performing Arts & the Brooklyn Flea Record Fair team up once again to present Wax & Stacks on Saturday, February 21. This free event includes fifteen specially curated record collectors selling their wares alongside DJs and unique demos by the library’s Music and Recorded Sound Division featuring materials from their extensive collection. Special Programming Includes:
1pm - From the Archive: Lou Reed - Coney Island Gems, demos, outtakes and more. Kevin Parks, Curator of Music and Recorded Sound Division, will play a selection of unreleased gems from the library’s Lou Reed archive in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Coney Island Baby and Reed's birthday March 2.
3pm- Wax Cylinder Demo
Back by popular demand! Assistant Curator, Jessica Wood, will play recordings on the first commercial sound recording medium, the wax cylinder.
All Day- Pop Life Display
Curated by Danielle Cordovez and Jessica Gavilan, Pop Life is devoted to boy bands and girl groups from the past to today.
